Having received a thorough makeover just last year that included interior/exterior, chassis and drivetrain enhancements, the popular American-made Mitsubishi Outlander Sport crossover – the Japanese auto manufacturer's best-selling model– gains further upgrades for the 2014 model year.

Among these changes for the company's handsome 5-passenger, EPA-rated 31 mpg highway (CVT-equipped 2WD models) is:

Other new additions to the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport include the availability of a new Premium Package for the SE trim level that includes a dynamic 710-watt Rockford Fosgate® premium sound system with 9 speakers including 10-in. dual-voice coil subwoofer with Punch Control®, DTS® Neural Surround, PremiDIA-WIDE® surround, and Dolby® Volume; an auto-dimming rearview mirror and the aforementioned power adjustable driver's seat. A new LED Daytime Running Lamps Package bundles the eye-catching LED DRLs with special front corner extensions.

New stand-alone options for the 2014 model Outlander Sport consist of the new MMCS navigation system with 7-in. high definition touch panel, and the stylish wheel lip arch trim featured on the 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition model that celebrates Mitsubishi Motors' 30 year anniversary in America.

Every 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport includes a vast array of advanced standard safety features including Active Stability Control (ASC) with Hill Start Assist (HSA); anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist; Traction Control Logic (TCL); a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS); and a 7 air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) with front air bags with passenger weight and driver's seat position sensors, front seat-mounted side-impact air bags, and curtain side air bags with roll-over sensors.

Driver and passengers of all 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport models are treated to a comfortable yet composed ride quality, thanks to an optimally designed suspension system featuring MacPherson struts with stabilizer bar up front with a multi-link set-up with stabilizer bar at the rear of the vehicle.

All 2014 Outlander Sport vehicles are powered by a DOHC 2.0-liter normally-aspirated 4-cylinder engine equipped with Mitsubishi's advanced MIVEC variable valve-timing technology. A new engine balancer shaft for the 2014 model helps to reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) while providing smoother and quicker vehicle acceleration.
